The Teacup Tornadoes have been busy these past couple of months. Besides finalizing the details of our trial in May, we've ordered the ribbons, and had two fundraising events.
So to catch everyone up, our inaugural trial will be May 18th, 19th and 20th. We will start of with a Standard run on Friday evening. On the Saturday, we will start with a Game followed by two Standard runs, than a Game, if time permits, plans are in place for an additional Standard run and Game. On the Sunday, another Game, two Standard runs, and a final Game. That's potentially six Standard runs and five Games!
We've ordered the ribbons for the trial, I'll post a sample picture when they come in. They should arrive in a couple of weeks. To help pay for these gorgeous ribbons, we've had a couple of fund raising events. One was a practice game day in February, where we set up two different Games and a generic (all level) Standard run. The event was attended by 14 dog (11 handlers), and many of the attendees joined the Club. We are now at 12 members.
At the Canine Sports Academy trial this past weekend, we had another fund raiser raffling off a TDAA tunnel (10' long, in red) and a nice dog bed generously donated by Kim Brewer from Texas. (This is where I forgot to take pictures!). Both items were won by our TTAC member from Wichita, KS, Lee Ann Jahansooz, and she has offered to fill the dog bed with items and re-raffle it at our May trial. Thanks, Lee Ann! Our next fund raising event will be on April 14th at the Canine Sports Academy for what I'm calling the Three Ring Circus (see calendar for details).
If you're coming to our May trial, don't be in too big a rush to get out the door on the Sunday. We'll be giving out High-in-trial awards for each height class, for veterans, and in honor of my dearly departed Odo (see previous post), a High-in-trial rescued dog award. So if your agility dog is from a breed rescue, adopted from a shelter, or just found on the street, make sure to let us know on your registration form, so we can keep track of your trial points (it's not something the software can handle).
Our trial will have a couple of extra opportunities to win something. We'll have the "Darn I didn't Q" awards. Each time you NQ, you can drop your name in the pot for a chance at a gift certificate. There will be two drawings per day (Saturday and Sunday), one from the Standard NQs and one from the Games NQs. We will also have some people's choice awards, so watch for the ballots in your goody bags.
